Where to begin
An introduction to the tarot cards
The tarot deck is made of 78 cards, each showing a figure, a situation, a movement or a lesson. Together they form a rich language for looking at a question from several angles and noticing the forces, possibilities and patterns at work inside it.
The deck has two parts: the 22 cards of the Major Arcana, which describe the significant stations of life's journey, and the 56 cards of the Minor Arcana, which deal with everyday experience through four suits — Cups, Wands, Swords and Pentacles.
