Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small files a browser stores so a site can work. Browsers also let a site keep information in local storage (localStorage), which stays until it is cleared, and in the tab's memory (sessionStorage), which is discarded when the tab closes. This policy covers all of them.
Necessary – always on
These are needed for the site to work: sign-in, security, language, age confirmation and remembering your cookie choice. They are not used for advertising or marketing tracking, so they do not require consent.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
agat. | Cookie | Keeping you signed in | One hour from your last activity on the site |
agat_ | Cookie | Age confirmation for visitors outside Israel, so we don't ask on every visit | 30 days (a "no" answer: until the browser closes) |
agat_agat. | Cookie and tab memory | Preventing an immediate second attempt to register after a registration was refused as under 18 | 24 hours |
agat_ | Cookie | Continuing a reading you started as a guest after you sign in or register | Two hours |
agat_ | Cookie | Coming back to a reading you received as a guest from this browser, and keeping it in your account if you sign in or register after it. Holds only an identifier of the spread, not your question | 72 hours |
agat_ | Cookie | A random browser identifier that protects the service's usage limits, prevents abuse, and hands back a reading asked again within half an hour as it was written. Not used for measurement or advertising | 400 days |
agat_ | Cookie | After buying a reading pack without signing up: the id of the account opened for it, to check on your way back from PayPlus whether the payment went through. Does not sign you in | Two days |
agat_ | Cookie | The site appearance you chose in your profile (dark or pearl), so pages open in it straight away. Tied to the sign-in it was chosen in | One year |
agat_ | Cookie | The site appearance you chose in the top bar without signing in (day & night or pearl), so pages open in it straight away. Removed when you go back to the dark look | One year |
agat. | Local storage | Your cookie choice | Until you clear it |
agat-agat-agat- | Local storage | Display preferences: how the site addresses you, the grid background and the chat window's position in the Light Language tool | Until you clear it |
agat.agat.agat:agat. | Tab memory | Passing your question and the reading's preparation between pages without putting them in the address, keeping a card message that has not been sent yet, and the age confirmation before a reading without an account | Until the tab closes |
agat-agat. | Tab memory | Not showing the site assistant's introduction again, and not checking again whether you registered in the same tab | Until the tab closes |
agat. | Tab memory | An ad click identifier – see "How you reached the site" below | Until the tab closes |
Measurement – only with your consent
Only if you allow Analytics in the cookie window, and only if your browser does not send a Do Not Track signal, does the site run the following, to understand how it is used and improve it:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
agat. | Local storage | AGAT's own measurement: a random visitor identifier and basic usage events (page views, clicks, form submissions). The content of fields is never sent, and password fields are not measured. | Until you clear it; removed when you choose "Essential only" |
___ | Hotjar cookies | Heatmaps and session recordings (Hotjar). Your questions, readings and personal details are hidden in recordings, and Hotjar does not start on a page whose address carries a question. | One year (_hjSessionUser), 30 minutes (_hjSession), immediately removed (_hjTLDTest) |
Advertising – only with your consent
AGAT advertises on Google Ads. Only after you allow Analytics (and without Do Not Track) is Google's measurement tag (gtag) loaded, and it reports to Google when you register or when a reading is produced. The tag is also used to build remarketing audiences, that is, to show AGAT ads on other sites. The page address is sent to Google without its parameters, and the content of your questions and readings is never sent.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
_ | Google cookie on AGAT's site | Linking a registration or reading to the ad that led to it | 90 days |
| Cookies on Google's domains | Third-party cookies | Ad measurement and remarketing, under Google's policy | See Google's cookie policy |
For anyone who chose "Essential only" the tag is never loaded and nothing about them is reported.
How you reached the site
When you arrive through an ad, Google appends a click identifier to the page address (gclid, gbraid or wbraid). AGAT keeps that identifier in the tab's memory only (sessionStorage), and it is discarded when the tab closes. If an account is opened in the same tab, the identifier is stored once against that account so we know the registration came from an ad. It does not identify you personally, is not stored as a cookie, builds no browsing profile and is not sent to any third party. This is kept even if you decline Analytics, because it does not measure what you do on the site – only how you reached it.
Your choice
On your first visit you can choose "Essential only" or allow Analytics. You can change your choice at any time using the "Manage cookies" link in the site footer. Choosing "Essential only" stops AGAT's own measurement, Hotjar and Google's advertising tag, and removes the local visitor identifier. Cookies that Hotjar or Google have already set stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them in your browser settings, but the site no longer reads them.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the necessary cookies will prevent signing in and some of the site's functions.
Do Not Track
When your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the site does not run AGAT's own measurement, Hotjar or Google's advertising tag, even if you allowed Analytics.
Third-party services
Other than Hotjar and Google Ads described above, AGAT runs no external measurement, advertising or tracking tools on the site. If any are added in the future, this policy and the cookie window will be updated before they are turned on. For how your personal information is handled, see the Privacy Policy.
